Enhance Your Natural Curves with Breast Augmentation and Implants – Serving Greater Toronto

With breast augmentation and breast implants, patients throughout the greater Toronto and North York region can dramatically enhance their natural curves to gain fuller, more attractive breasts. Dr. Sean Brian Rice performs various types of breast augmentation surgery. For many women, the size and shape of their breasts is an important part of their overall appearance, affecting the types of clothes they can wear, the kinds of physical activities they can enjoy, and the way they feel about their bodies. Women who feel that their breasts are too small may not be as comfortable wearing certain types of clothing – such as bathing suits or strapless dresses – or possess the same healthy sense of self-confidence as women who are happy with the size and shape of their breasts.

Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast augmentation surgery can be performed using various and widely differing approaches, techniques, and styles. Dr. Sean Brian Rice is experienced in several different ways of executing the surgery, and will use the procedure which is best for each individual patient. The procedure generally consists of small incisions being made in the skin to allow a surgeon to place breast implants under the skin and tissue of the breasts. The incisions can be made in the creases of the breasts (infra mammary folds), in a circle around the nipples and areolas (peri areolar), or in the arm pits (trans axillary).

Different ways of placing the breast implants inside the enlarged breasts also have been developed. Subglandular breast implants are placed beneath the breast tissue, but on top of the muscles that line the inside of the chest. Submuscular breast implants are placed deeper inside the body, beneath both the skin and the internal muscular structure. While surgeons and patients may have a preference as to where they would like to place the breast implants, both subglandular and submuscular placements are widely used and produce satisfactory results when properly performed.

There are also several different types of breast implants now available, which are commonly filled with either a form of silicone gel or saline (saltwater) solution. Breast implants come in varying shapes and sizes in order to achieve the different look, shape, and feel of breasts sought after by women undergoing the surgery.

Breast Implants

The science of breast augmentation and breast implants has advanced greatly as the popular cosmetic surgery procedure has risen to prominence over the past 25 years. Patients seeking breast augmentation and breast implants in Toronto now have many options that Dr. Rice can outline in detail during a private consultation. By examining your breasts and your body structure, as well as discussing in depth your goals and expectations for the breast augmentation surgery, Dr. Rice will be able to recommend which procedure will be best for you.

Cohesive Gel Implants

A cohesive gel implant is a silicone elastomer shell filled with a silicone gel inside. These implants, which have been available in Canada since the year 2000, differ greatly from the older style silicone implants. To understand the consistency of a cohesive gel implant, many patients are told to bite into a gummy bear candy and look inside. For this reason, many patients ask their doctors for “gummy bear” implants rather than referring to them as cohesive gel implants. These forms of implants are widely praised for their ability to closely imitate the soft, supple look and feel of a natural female breast. A cohesive gel implant is filled with a thicker substance than silicone and does not leak if the implant shell holding it inside the chest is ruptured.

Cohesive gel implants come in both an anatomical and round shape. The beauty of the anatomical cohesive gel implants is that they come in a variety of heights, widths, and projections. Therefore, Dr. Rice is able to recommend an implant that is closest to the natural shape of your breasts, allowing for a more natural looking breast augmentation.

It should be noted that cohesive gel implants are best for women seeking natural-looking breasts that are roughly proportionate to their body structures. Cohesive gel implants are not recommended for women who are seeking overly large breast augmentation.

Cohesive gel breast implants, both round and anatomical, are offered by Toronto cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Sean Brian Rice, who specializes in providing cutting-edge breast augmentation to valued patients in greater Toronto and North York.

Saline Implants

Saline implants are a silicone elastomer shell that is filled with a salt water solution known as saline. This is the same solution that patients get when having an IV. Saline implants come deflated and are filled with the saline once inserted into the breast. Saline implants have a slightly higher tendency to ripple than cohesive gel implants and therefore need to be placed under the muscle more often. Saline implants tend to provide a more rounded appearance to the breast.
